In group "B" the young but very promising team of Cherno More came first with two wins and a draw, Commodore finished second with a win, a draw and a loss. Third with a win and two defeats was Chernomorets, and fourth with two draws and a loss - Aqua Sport.
So in the first semi-final CPS Varna had a very difficult time with the tactically slow and closed game of Commodore. The score of 9-5 was definitely misleading because the game was "rocking" until the end of the third quarter. And CSKA dealt with the ambitious youngsters from Cherno More, for whom even reaching this stage of the tournament was already a serious success.
In the match of the big losers of this tournament, Chernomorets won against Lokomotiv NN, and Aqua Sport still got one win, albeit in the consolation match for 7-8 place against Slavia.
In the small final for 3-4 place, Commodore took a sweet revenge from Cherno More for the loss in the group.
In the final, CPS Varna started much more confidently than CSKA, whose situation was sharply aggravated by the suspension of Georgi and Kiril Dimov by the middle of the second half. And the brothers are among the leaders of the champions.
Thus the lead of the team gradually grew to 4 goals in the last quarter and three minutes before the end it was 3 shots. At that point, CSKA, with its thinning lineup, went on a final assault, scoring two goals. They even had possession of the ball with 11 seconds left before the final buzzer, but couldn't get it to a tie, which would have meant penalty kicks - penalty kicks.
It was an interesting and intriguing tournament. With a deserved winner in the face of the visibly well-prepared and well-coached and led team of the new old cup winner CPS Varna. The 2021 season proved very successful for CSKA with the title returning to the red showcase after a six-year absence. With the improved organization in the club and with the boosted self-confidence, as well as the great momentum in the team for hard training. For Commodore, the third place is a handsome reward for the disciplined players who strictly followed the coach's instructions and eventually bagged medals. For Black Sea, it was clear that if the team continues on this path, participation in the semi-final in Burgas will be just the beginning of future success.
Chernomorets with the two losses at the start cut off the possibilities for a new entry in the Top 4, and why not for a new final, where the Burgas players were 4 times (in the championship and the cup) in the last 4 years. For Lokomotiv NN the lesson remained that the statement is unshakably true - in sport success cannot come without regular training. Aqua Sport remained well below their ambitions, just like Lokomotiv NN and Chernomorets. And in Slavia this time the mix between very young and veterans did not give the expected result...
Eight matches from the tournament in Burgas - the last matches in the groups, the semi-finals, the final and the 3-4 place match, were shown live on air by the national sports broadcaster B1B BOX. This also happened in the summer at the Men's Super Final in Varna. BFVT has a contract to broadcast the decisive matches of the Bulgarian Men's Championship and Cup live for the next two years. This is a great opportunity for clubs to look around for new sponsors. And the process of securing them should be made easier by the availability of guaranteed live TV coverage of 10-12 matches from the domestic sports and competition calendar of the men's teams in the country for each year up to and including 2023.
