Serbia's water polo players captured a second Olympic title in Tokyo after their triumph 5 years ago in Rio. 10 of the athletes in Deyan Savic's current team took home a second gold medal. Seven of the squad left the national team after Tokyo.
In the final against Greece, the triumph of the now two-time Olympic champions came very hard. After 6-3 in the first quarter for the Serbians came 4-2 for the Greeks in the second and 2-2 in the third, which meant 10-9 for Serbia before the last 8 minutes.
In them first Skumpakis first made it 10-10, but then Parlainovic was accurate on a penalty, and two more goals from a man-up game were scored by Aksic and Mandic (with 3 shots in the game). At the same time, the Greeks missed opportunities to score in four situations where they were outnumbered in the water. Thus, in practice, the ability to realize at zones brought the triumph to the Serbs, who in total in the match scored 6 goals out of 9 chances at zones, while the Greeks also realized 6 hits, but out of 15 opportunities to play with a batsman in the lead. Final score: 13-10 (6-3, 2-4, 2-2, 3-1) for Serbia.
