The men's water polo championship final, which is effectively the second phase of qualifying, has a new programme. This is necessitated after the withdrawal of the Ticha team. The matches are from 8 to10 April in Sofia at the Diana pool.
"The cancellation of Ticha does not change anything in the regulations - commented Toma Tomov, head coach of the BFVT. - It's just that in the final the teams from the group in which Ticha was actually enter with 2 games and the assets from them, while the line-ups from the other group - with the assets from the 3 games they played. Now in Sofia, however, one will have 4 more matches and the other - 3. Thus, in the end, a final ranking will be formed from the matches "each against each" between the participants in the final. Which at the beginning of the championship according to the regulations should have been eight, but now there are seven. In the end, all the participants in the final will have played the same number of matches - 6 each, and are thus placed on an absolutely level playing field."
The first two teams from the final go to the Super Final, where already qualified KPS Varna and Aqua Sport, who won the groups in the first qualification.
